A tried and true decoration that works for all situations is lighting! String them along the roof or windows or have them line the path to your door for an eerie glow.

Hanging Decorations

From cobwebs and spiders to creepy skeletons and ghosts, there are lots of hanging options to frighten passersby. You can even transform your door with a spooky door cover. Whether pre-made or handmade, visitors will be convinced they’re taking a step into a haunted house.

Pumpkins

Halloween wouldn’t be Halloween without a few glowing Jack-o-lanterns. You can go for a creepy skeleton or a goofy grin! But if carving a pumpkin isn’t your thing, you can try your hand at painting for an equally fantastic look.

PROTECT YOUR SKIN WHILE CAMPING

One of the best things about summer is spending time outdoors and soaking up some sun. However, too much fun in the sun can be harmful to your skin, and the Texas heat is no joke. While the Texas skies make for some beautiful sunsets and stargazing, it also means less shade and more blazing sun during the day. Here are a few tips to make sure you stay protected because nothing ruins a great trip like a horrible sunburn!

During your stay, make sure you’ve packed plenty of sunscreen with a minimum 30 SPF and that you reapply throughout the day. Technically, sunscreen is not waterproof and can easily wash off after too much time in the water or extensive sweating. And don’t let those clouds deceive you! Many people forgo their sunscreen just because it’s a little overcast, which can be just as dangerous. To be safe, apply sunscreen any time you will be outdoors.

Despite the sunscreen, some people naturally burn more than others. When this happens, aloe vera is a great treatment to help soothe the burn. The natural cooling effect will ease the pain while also assisting in the healing process so you can get back outside quicker. For easier application, look for a spray on version rather than a lotion.

The sun isn’t the only thing that can come for your skin during these Texas summers. We also bring plenty of bugs and pests such as mosquitos, chiggers, gnats, and ticks. Be sure to apply bug spray after applying your sunscreen to help keep the pesky critters away. During the cooler nights, it is also a good idea to wear long sleeves or pants to help protect your skin while you sleep, especially if you’re outside in a tent.

Summer brings the height of the baseball season, and Austin RV Park North is located minutes away from a fantastic stadium and team. The Minor League team Round Rock Express hits plenty of home runs in the Dell Diamond. You won’t want to miss all the action this summer!

A UNIQUE PARK FOR ALL ABILITIES

All children deserve a space that lets them learn and explore through play, but many parks and playgrounds are inaccessible to children with autism and disabilities. That’s why the City of Round Rock designed the Play for All Abilities Park. When you visit Austin RV Park North, this incredible park is just down the road. No matter your child’s level of ability, they’ll have a wonderful time!

With over 51,000 square feet, the park is packed full of fun. It’s now more than double the original size and features different “pods” of activities. Each pod supports learning and development in a different way. Kids can explore creativity, motor skills, and peer interaction. They can problem solve and develop social skills and cooperation. With unique play areas specifically designed to be accessible, autistic and disabled kids can experience a level of play they have not been able to before.

Don’t miss the all-abilities treehouse and specially designed swings. There’s even a picnic area for taking a break between activities. This is a fantastic resource and destination for kids of all abilities to interact and enjoy themselves.

Looking to combine a little culture with your outdoor time? Look no further than The Liberty Hill International Sculpture Park! This park features twenty-seven limestone sculptures laid out in a beautiful park atmosphere. You’ll want to wander and explore the different creations of international artists from six countries.

A local artist started the park in 1976 with a call for international artists. Twenty-five of them temporarily moved to the area to participate in the experiment. Each artist sculpted limestone in their unique style. The result is a unique garden of stone figures of all shapes and sizes.

With spring in full swing, it’s the perfect time to get some fresh air and enjoy nature. When you stay with us at Austin RV North, outdoor adventure is just moments away. Just up the road a bit in Georgetown, you’ll find one of the area’s most beautiful and unique attractions.

Blue Hole Park features a large lagoon surrounded by limestone bluffs. In the heat of the day, you’ll enjoy cooling off in the beautiful, clear water. Hikers will enjoy the variety of trails that weave through the park and provide beautiful views of the lagoon and cliffs. You’re also able to fish in the lagoon at your leisure, just be sure to review the rules posted on the park’s website. After an active day at the park, make sure to cap off your visit with a meal at one of the picnic areas with family and friends.

The park opens up at 5 AM and stays open until 10 PM. The entrance is located at W. Second Street and Rock Street. Parking isn’t a hassle as it is free, simply go to the corner of 3rd Street and Rock Street and park either in the parking lot or the nearby parking garage. There’s always something new to learn, even when you are relaxing at Austin RV Park North. You can have a fun afternoon learning about all kinds of topics at the Texas Memorial Museum. Their exhibits will provide you an experience that is fun and educational for the entire family.

The museum’s exhibits explore a vast array of topics. One of our favorites focuses on Texas’ own wildlife. The Hall of Texas Wildlife gives you an inside look at the various animals that make Texas their home. You’ll discover everything from the fresh water fish that inhabit rivers and lakes to the nocturnal animals that walk the night. It’s a great companion to the Hall of Geology and Paleontology. This exhibit takes you back to the past. Dinosaur fossils line the hall. You’ll also spot the smaller fossils of various ancestors of modern-day animals. There are even meteorites on display, which allow you to compare Earth’s geology with that of outer space.

APPRECIATE ART IN AUSTIN

Austin is home to a wide array of art and culture. At the center of it all is the Blanton Museum of Art. It’s one of the foremost university art museums in the country. There’s no better place for the entire family to appreciate art throughout the ages.

With over 18,000 works on display, the Blanton Museum is the primary collection of art in Austin. The site holds a vast collection of American, European, and Latin American art. This variety makes it accessible to all interests and levels of art experience. In addition to the permanent collection, the Blanton Museum showcases a wide variety of exhibits. One such exhibit is Words/Matter: Latin American Art and Language at the Blanton. This exhibit’s focus is on the link between visual art and written language with the artists in question.

With temperatures already rising in the Hill Country, visitors to Austin RV Park North will be looking for ways to cool down. Luckily there’s a great place in the heart of Austin that lets you not only cool down but also have fun doing it! The Barton Springs Pool is a wonderful place to kick back and laze the day away with the whole family.

The Barton Springs Pool is considered one of Austin’s crown jewels. People from all walks of life enjoy this beautiful spot, from politicians to free-spirited college students to young children. The pool’s massive size—a full three acres—leaves plenty of room for everyone to join in the fun. There are plenty of areas to wade in, as well as deep water. The depths range from 0 to 18 feet. It’s unique in that it’s fed from underground springs that have an average temperature of 68-70 degrees, allowing for year-round swimming. Another cool fact about Barton Springs is that it serves as a federally-protected habitat for the endangered Barton Springs Salamander.

The pool closes from 9 am. To 7 p.m. every Thursday to allow for extensive cleaning and maintenance. There are grassy areas surrounding the pool that are perfect for catching some rays, as well as a pool bathhouse. IT’S ALL ABOUT THE BARBECUE

No visit to Texas is complete without barbecue, and Central Texas has some of the best. Even if you’ve tried barbecue in other parts of Texas, you’ll want to make it a priority to try some while you’re staying at Austin RV Park North. The Central Texas style is very different from what you’ve probably had before.

Unlike other parts of Texas, Central Texas barbecue shies away from sauce. It’s all about the meat! This stems from the cooking style of German and other immigrants who made their homes here. Pitmasters in Central Texas dry rub the meat. It’s then cooked over indirect heat in a large pit over wood. Pecan, oak, and mesquite—or a blend—are used for the distinctive flavors they infuse into the meat. Sauce is used as a condiment here, unlike other parts of Texas. This way, the full flavor of the meat is on display.

No matter what type of meat you choose, you’re sure to find white bread, pickles, and onions on the side. Cole slaw, potato, salad, and beans are pretty standard. So is the Blue Bell Homemade Vanilla ice cream with dessert. You’ll want to try a little bit of everything and come back for more!

Texas has a fascinating history, and county museums are a great place to experience it. Down the road from Austin RV Park North is the Williamson County Museum. Its standing exhibits are updated frequently so there’s always something new to see. Traveling exhibits showcase topics like Willie the Longhorn's Kids Corral and Swedish immigration to Texas. The museum additionally hosts local artists that rotate monthly.

Upcoming exhibits include the societal impact of WWI on the county, a photographic exhibit of places of worship in the county, and a local photographer’s views of the Ukraine.

The main museum location is in Georgetown, and it’s open Wednesday through Saturday. There is also a branch in Round Rock on the Chisolm Trail that is open exclusively on Saturdays. You’ll want to check the website here for more information on hours and events.

This year, you can visit Santa’s home away from the North Pole in the Texas Hill Country. Santa’s Jingle House is a unique home filled with Christmas fun that has many activities to get into the holiday spirit. From decorating gingerbread houses to Christmas Bingo, you’re sure to find something for all to enjoy. Kids can choose themed craft projects to make something for the grandparents. There’s even an Elf on a Shelf-themed scavenger hunt.

Ice skating and Texas don’t seem like a natural combination. But during the holidays, there are many opportunities to get some time on the rink. One of them nearby is at the annual Holiday Celebration at Wolf Ranch Shopping Center. Not a skater? There will be all kinds of activities to keep you busy. Share your Christmas list with Santa and take some photos. Take a horse-drawn carriage ride. You can even choose from different games and crafts.

Skating sessions are thirty minutes long. Sign up in advance or show up early as it’s first come, first served. If you have a special needs child, make sure to sign up for one of the special sensory-friendly slots.

KICK OFF THE HOLIDAY SEASON IN STYLE

The Georgetown Square has been called The Most Beautiful Town Square in Texas with good reason! The holiday season really drives this title home. The spectacular lights that line the Square during the holidays give it a beautiful glow of seasonal cheer. You can be part of the magic by attending the Lighting of the Square on November 23rd!

This event takes place each year on the Friday after Thanksgiving at 5:30 p.m. Join Santa and Georgetown’s Mayor, Dale Ross, to countdown to the official start of the season. When they flip the switch, the entire Square lights up.

Sing along to your favorite holiday songs with the Austin Carolers. Pick up some holiday gifts at the shops lining the Square. They’ll be open late for your convenience. The kids won’t want to miss pictures with Santa inside the courthouse. You’ll pay a fee for a photo, but it’s to support a good cause, the Brown Santa Program. Pictures are available between 6:30 and 8:00 p.m.

CATCH SOME STARS ON ICE!

Texas may not be known for winter sports, but indoor ice rinks have allowed hockey fans to get in on the action! TIME FOR A GOOD SCARE!

With Halloween just around the corner, we’re on the hunt for some spooky fun! On October 12 th , 13 th , 19 th , and 20 th , head over to the Nightmare on Jail Hill Haunted House between 7:00 p.m. and 11:00 p.m. if you want a good scare! The haunted house takes place at the Old Williamson County Jail, which held prisoners from 1889 to 1990. The jail is rumored to be haunted and has appeared on the television show “Ghost Hunters.”

The haunted house serves as a fundraiser for the Williamson County Brown Santa program. This non-profit program provides assistance to low income and impoverished families in Williamson County, using donations for toys, book, and other items to help children have a better Christmas.

The Chalk Walk Arts Festival is a favorite annual event in Round Rock that you won’t want to miss! The highlight is definitely the long line of beautiful sidewalk murals created by talented artists. However, there’s a lot more to see as well! Hundreds of local artists, artisans, and performers participate in the festival, and it brings tens of thousands of people to the area.

The whole family will enjoy the activities and fun, but kids get their own special place to hang out. The Sprouts Kids Zone will feature new activities this year. Also, kids can rock out to youth performances on the School of Rock stage. Each evening brings the family back together for a concert all can enjoy.

TRAVEL TO GERMANY WITHOUT LEAVING TEXAS

Texas is proud of its heritage, and the Hill Country is no exception. You’ll find a large German influence in the area, and there’s no better way to experience it than with authentic food. The Walburg German Restaurant and Biergarten provides an authentic Bavarian menu in the heart of the Hill Country. You’ll feel like you stepped off a plane and into a traditional biergarten!

The restaurant is located in an old mercantile building, built in 1882. Two German immigrants started Walburgs to honor their roots in the area and bring a bit of their heritage to Texas. Dine in the main building, which has plenty of room for large groups, or spend your time out back. Our fantastic location puts you a short drive from all kinds of natural wonders and adventure. One of the most unique is ziplining, and it’s something you must try at least once.

Lake Travis Zipline Adventures puts you in a gorgeous location for what they call the “Adventure of a Lifetime.” Ziplining is fun for all ages, and they have five different ziplines to enjoy. The ziplines range from 300 feet to over 2800 feet. Three of them are the longest and fastest in Texas. Nothing beats the rush of ziplining, except for the amazing views of Lake Travis and the Texas Hill Country!

The experience includes all the equipment, boat transportation, water, and a light trail snack. Access to a private beach is also included. San Gabriel Park’s 180 acres are shaded by grand old oak trees. It’s the perfect place to balance outdoor activity and relaxation. The park is full of activities that will appeal to all members of your family. Explorers can wander the hike and bike trails or canoe along the river. Kids will love splashing in the water or learning to fish. Touch football and Frisbee bring the whole gang together. Anywhere you go in Texas, you’ll see wildflowers dotting the landscape. But the Lady Bird Johnson Wildflower Center brings them together in one place. This botanical garden features native flowers and plants year-round. Its mission is to preserve and restore the natural beauty of Texas while inspiring a love of conservation.

At the center, you’ll find 284 acres of native botanicals, including an arboretum, cultivated gardens, and managed natural areas and wildlands. With more than 800 species cultivated or naturally occurring at the center, each visit is unique. With such a diverse landscape, it’s no surprise that more than 143 species of birds and 15 species of mammals have made their home at the center.

As you explore the center’s grounds, you’ll study native trees in the arboretum and view iconic buildings among the gardens. Hike the two miles of trails that run through the center or sprawl out on the soft grass in the Family Garden to enjoy the sun. CATCH THE TRAIN TO A FUN DAY OUT!

Train travel isn’t as popular as it was in the past, and our modern trains are quite different. But you can still get a glimpse of the heyday of train travel. At the Cedar Rock Railroad Park, you’ll experience the wow factor of an old-fashioned locomotive. The best part? It’s only a short drive away from Austin RV Park North.

The park features a custom-built, quarter-scale train using locomotive technology. “Sophie” pulls passengers on a relaxing 1.4-mile ride through fields and forests. It’s a fantastic experience for kids and adults alike!

Sophie isn’t the only thing to love at Cedar Rock. The park features “Old Town Pflooterville,” a play area filled with structures that let kids pretend to chase the bad guys. Another play area lets kids pretend to drive a train like Sophie. Kids over three also have the option to chase each other in miniature locomotives. You can purchase souvenirs and snacks at the “depot” and relax for a while at the picnic pads. The Texas Hill Country is becoming well-known for its wine, and there are two places to try it out that are a short drive from Austin RV Park North. Enjoy some time sampling local wines and learning about their qualities during your stay with us. It’s definitely a relaxing way to spend an afternoon!

Just down the road in Liberty Hill, you’ll find The Thirsty Mule Winery and Vineyard. It features the only underground wine-tasting bar in Texas. Head right into the hillside and down four feet to the bar area. You’ll have a great view of the wine cave while you sample some bottles. The Mule is closed on Monday and Tuesday. When it’s this hot, all we can think about is cooling off. But we still want to have outdoor fun! Beachside Billy’s Waterpark combines the best of both worlds. You’ll love spending the day with your family at the park. It’s located right on the shores of Lake Travis and features its own sandy beachfront. Spread out your beach towel and soak up some sun on the sand. You can also make your way to the Lazy Lagoon to sunbathe on the edge of the water. Make sure to check out the swim-up tiki bar in the adult only pool. Feeling competitive? Try your hand at beach volleyball at one of three courts.

You won’t have to worry about the kids while you’re at Beachside Billy’s. They can swim in one of the children’s pools or brave the thrilling waterslides. Themed play areas also provide opportunities to explore and challenge them physically.

A UNIQUE PARK FOR ALL ABILITIES

Just down the road from Austin RV Park North is a fantastic park for kids of all abilities to enjoy. The Play for All Abilities Park in Round Rock was designed with autistic and disabled kids in mind. A recent expansion more than doubled the size of the park. The existing “pods” of activities were expanded. These pods support kids in exploring their creativity, motor skills, and peer interaction. The special design of these features means that autistic and disabled kids are able to play in ways they haven’t before. This is an important part of learning and developing.

New additions to the park include an all-abilities treehouse, as well as swings designed for kids of all abilities. The Village Pod section has been expanded, including the addition of a carwash and a Chick-fil-a. Upgrades parents will enjoy include new restrooms and improved parking. You’ll also love testing out the new picnic area.

When the Texas heat gets to be too much this summer, you’ll want to head to one of the area’s water parks or swimming holes to cool down. One of our favorites is Blue Hole Park. This beautiful lagoon lets you lounge in the sun surrounded by majestic limestone cliffs.

Cool off in the water, or make use of the hiking and biking trails in the park. You can even bring a snorkel and mask to explore the pools. Make sure to bring water shoes since the rocks can get a little slippery! You won’t be able to jump from the cliffs—it’s illegal. However, there’s plenty to do at Blue Hole Park. You’ll want to pack your camera to catch some shots of this peaceful, scenic place.

A MEMORIAL DAY TO REMEMBER

This year, the Georgetown-Williamson County Veterans Memorial Plaza will host two events for Memorial Day that you won’t want to miss. Both events are free and open to the public to honor the men and women who sacrificed everything for our country.

The 36th Infantry Division Band from Camp Mabry in Austin will perform at both events, starting with a Pre-Memorial Day Evening Concert. They’ll fill the Plaza with big band tunes and patriotic marches on Sunday, May 27th at 7:00 p.m. The Band will also perform at the annual Memorial Day Ceremony on Monday, May 28th at 9:30 a.m. U.S. Senator John Cornyn will be the guest speaker. You can bring folding chairs, and there will be refreshments served after the ceremony.

TAKE A SCROLL IN A SCULPTURE GARDEN

Just up the road in Liberty Hill is a park full of sculptures with a unique backstory. The Liberty Hill International Sculpture Park features twenty-seven limestone sculptures by international artists from six countries. The sculptures date back to 1976, when local artist Mel Fowler wanted to do something to mark the bicentennial of the United States. He put out a call for sculptors to come to Liberty Hill. A group of twenty-five answered and temporarily took up residence in Texas. They carved donated limestone in their own style, creating a varied landscape that has been preserved for us to enjoy.

Art lovers can examine the artists’ interpretation and use of materials. But everyone can enjoy strolling through the park and enjoying this bit of local history combined with international culture.

OUTDOOR MOVIES FOR THE WHOLE FAMILY

Have some fun with the kids this summer at the Sunset Movie Series in Georgetown. When the sun goes down, the big screen lights up. Bring your blankets and lawn chairs to spread out under the stars. A picnic makes the evening complete, or you can take advantage of the popcorn provided by sponsors of the event.

The San Gabriel Park Soccer Fields play host to most of the films. Friday, May 11th brings “Coco” to the screen. “The Sandlot” is the feature for Friday, July 20th. Catch the recent hit “A Wrinkle in Time” on Friday, August 17th. You also won’t want to miss a special “Dive-In” movie presentation of “Moana” on Saturday, June 23rd at the Williams Drive Pool.

All movies at San Gabriel Park are free. For the “Dive-In” movie, regular pool fees will apply. Make sure to bring your own floatation device to the pool (must be translucent and smaller than four feet).

HEAD OUT TO THE BALLPARK THIS SPRING

We’re lucky to be located close to everything both Austin and the Hill Country have to offer. One of our favorite local places is the Dell Diamond. The Diamond is home to the Round Rock Express, a Minor League baseball team. But the fun you’ll have isn’t minor league at all!

The Express’s schedule features fun themed nights sure to entertain. Also, on Friday nights, you can stay after the game to enjoy a fireworks show. You can have a full evening out at the ballpark when you visit the Hall of Fame Grille. Bring your sweetheart or your friends and choose from a full menu of food and drinks. You can even browse Nolan Ryan’s personal collection of baseball memorabilia.

You won’t have to miss a bit of the baseball action due to bored kids at the Diamond. The Fun Zone is an area just for them to enjoy. Most of the activities are free, with a small charge for a few. Young children will love the moon jump and playground. Older kids can compete on one of the sports courts for bragging rights.

GET LOCAL GOODS AT AN AUTHENTIC TEXAS RANCH

There are plenty of farmer’s markets around, but only in Liberty Hill will you see one held at a true Texas Century Ranch! Take a short Saturday drive just down the road to the Indian Mound Ranch. Their Farmer’s Market lets you pick up some fantastic local products in a truly unique location.

The Ranch is a beautiful piece of nature. It’s also a working agricultural operation. It has been managed by family since 1873, but the market is a newer addition. Vendors come from all over the area to bring fresh items such as eggs, honey, produce, and baked goods. Artists bring their work to sell. You’ll even find unique crafts that make great gifts or souvenirs.

Make sure to ask about their event schedule while you’re there. The Ranch often hosts local events and even has day hunts sometimes for deer and hogs. The farmer’s market runs every Saturday during spring and summer. For more information, visit the market’s Facebook page or website .

AN UNDERGROUND ATTRACTION

Texas has some spectacular natural resources in the Hill Country for you to explore. One of these that you won’t want to miss is Inner Space Cavern. It was hidden for so long that it is one of the most well-preserved caves in the Texas area. Your whole family will enjoy exploring this natural wonder and learning about how it was formed.

Most people take the regular tour that features lighted, defined paths for you to follow. Your guide will give you information about the history and excavation of the cavern. You’ll also see some incredible rock formations and other features. But if you like a bit of adventure and are physically fit, check out the more active tours. One takes place on undefined paths and gets you up close to the formations. The other is longer and more intense. You’ll need a head flashlight for the dark and tight spaces on this one!

After your tour, let the kids blow off some steam at the playground. All ages will enjoy learning more at the cavern’s fossil exhibit and mining area. Don’t forget to pick up a souvenir from the gift shop before you go. For more information on Inner Space Cavern, visit their website here .

STEP BACK IN TEXAS HISTORY

A short drive from Austin RV Park North, you can experience what life was like in Texas in the 1800s. Pioneer Farms is Central Texas’ premier living history park and museum. It features six themed, historic areas to explore. Take a self-guided tour through an 1841 Tonkawa Encampment. Compare the farms of an 1868 German emigrant and an 1887 cotton planter.

The whole family will enjoy this “live” window into history. In addition to the themed areas, you’ll find over ninety wooded areas ready to explore. If you bring the kiddos, make sure to stop by the Scarborough Barn. There, kids can get to know their favorite farm animals, and you’ll get some fantastic photos of the experience!

This St. Patrick’s Day, bring the whole family out to Austin’s 17 th Annual St. Patrick’s Day Festival. Saturday, March 17 th , there’s no better place for an authentic Irish celebration. You can even learn a little Gaelic if you’re interested!

The festival features unique entertainment such as cloggers and Irish dancers. The Silver Thistle Pipes and Drums will demonstrate the beauty of Scottish bagpipes. Two covered stages let you experience international and local Celtic music stars throughout the day.

Let the kids blow off some steam playing laser tag and testing out the human gyroscope. If they get bored, you can always send them to the climate-controlled gaming theater. They’ll be able to play Madden Football, Call of Duty, and other games on giant plasma screens.

The festival has some of the best food and drink around, all authentically Irish. Enjoy Guiness, Harp, and Smithwicks on tap while the bands play. ENJOY AN EXHIBIT OF CONTEMPORARY ART PRINTS

The Austin area is full of art and culture for you to enjoy. Between theaters, museums, and galleries, there’s something for everyone. A fantastic venue that showcases nationally- and internationally-recognized art is just up the road in Georgetown. The Sarofim Fine Arts Gallery at Southwestern University always has something unique for you to experience.

Now through March 8 th , you can experience an exhibit showcasing how five artists play with two-dimensional and three-dimensional space in print form. Off the Wall: Contemporary Prints features artists Stacy Elko and Sang-Mi Yoo from Texas, as well as Nicole Pietrantoni from Washington, Samantha Parker Salazar from Illinois, and Andrew Folan from Dublin, Ireland.

The Sarofim Fine Arts Gallery is located in the Alma Thomas Fine Arts Center on the Southwestern University campus at 1001 E. University Avenue, Georgetown, Texas. A DAY OF WINE, FOOD, AND SHOPPING!

Georgetown, Texas is just up the road from Austin RV Park North, and you owe it to yourself to head out there. In addition to many wonderful attractions and activities, Georgetown has a fantastic town square. Many festivals and events are held in the Georgetown Square. On March 3 rd , the 9 th Annual Georgetown Swirl takes over. The celebration features Texas wine and food, and it provides an introduction to the local shops and boutiques. You’ll enjoy strolling through the Square and stopping into the shops for special discounts. Wine and food tastings only add to the fun. There will even be live jazz performed by La Grosse Tete to entertain you and a complimentary photo booth to document the evening.

Tickets are limited in order to keep the event small. You can purchase V.I.P. tickets that offer early access to the event and special perks. Otherwise, your standard, $50.00 ticket provides all that you could ask for. You’ll have the opportunity to try your choice of ten wine samples, as well as tastings held by participating restaurants. A DAY OF SCIENCE, BROUGHT TO LIFE

Just because you want to stay indoors this summer, doesn’t mean things have to be boring! With so many activities in the Austin area, you’ll find plenty to keep you busy while staying warm and dry. For something that’s both fun and educational, why not take the family to the Texas Museum of Science and Technology? The museum is a new addition to Austin, and it features the first planetarium in the area. With a 360-degree theater, the planetarium hosts star shows as well as movies for everyone to enjoy.

Everyone loves fossils and dinosaur bones, and the permanent Timewalk exhibit has plenty. These collections are used to highlight the history of the Earth. Go back in time to the earliest occupants of our planet and learn what makes it unique. The Amazing Butterflies exhibit also gives you unique insight. Travel through a special maze while you learn all about butterfly migration and how they live their lives.

You can also explore a powerful exhibit on loan from the Drug Enforcement Administration Museum. You’ll learn about how drugs are produced and trafficked into the U.S. Interactive kiosks help you understand how they’ve affected us and our communities.

BRING YOUR VALENTINE TO WILLIAMSON COUNTY

We’re proud of our history in the Round Rock area, and you can get a glimpse of it at the Williamson County Museum. Through February 25th, you’ll want to bring your valentine to the exhibit, “Love in Broken Places.” The artwork showcased features found and re-purposed objects. Artist Cheisel John hopes these pieces inspire hope and love in viewers.

Your sweetheart will also love the museum’s special event on February 10th. Visitors 21 and over can enjoy an evening at the museum. You’ll create your own vintage Valentine while enjoying a cocktail.

In addition to the special exhibits and events, make sure to check out the standing exhibits on local history. You also won’t want to miss the special traveling exhibits. You can enjoy several photography exhibits or learn about the first Swedish immigrants in the area.

You can always find an abundance of Christmas activities leading up to the big day. From light displays to visits with Santa, it seems like you could do a different activity daily. But in Round Rock, there’s a unique place that combines the best of Christmas in one spot. It is an experience not to be missed!

Santa’s Jingle House is literally a Christmas wonderland. This beautiful home provides a true Christmas experience of wonder. You pick the visit that appeals to you the most, with Santa or without. The Family Fun with Santa package lets the kids participate in crafts, story time, and cookie decorating. Of course, it also includes some time with Santa and a picture.

Are your kids obsessed with the Elf on a Shelf? Bring them to the Elf Scavenger Hunt! Sixty elves hide within Santa’s Jingle House waiting to be discovered. Older kids can even do a flashlight hunt for the elves! All ages can participate in the Candy Cane Flashlight Hunt. Young and old can wear their pajamas for this hunt in Santa’s yard.

Like to get creative? Have fun painting and decorating a holiday craft project. If edible crafts are more your kids’ style, check out the Gingerbread House Decorating Workshop. After either craft event, there will be time for hot cocoa, cookies, and Christmas Bingo.

A CHRISTMAS TALE GIVEN NEW LIFE

Many of us watch A Miracle on 34 th Street each year before Christmas. It’s a classic film that reminds us of the true meaning of the holiday. But this year, why not try a different spin on it?

Penfold Theatre brings this story to life as part of their series of classic radiocasts. The show features employees of a fictional radio station performing A Miracle on 34 th Street for their audience. You’re sure to love this version of Kris Kringle’s story if you’re a fan of the movie.

If you haven’t seen A Miracle on 34 th Street, you’re in for a treat! It tells the story of Kris Kringle, a Macy’s department story Santa. Kris is put on trial for claiming to be the real Santa Claus. With everyone jaded and consumed by materialism, Kris has his work cut out for him. Only a Christmas miracle will convince his friends to believe in the magic of the season again.

HAVE A HILL COUNTRY CHRISTMAS!

Liberty Hill is a great town in the Hill Country, not far from Austin RV Park North, and each year, they put on a great festival to welcome the Christmas season. The annual Liberty Hill Christmas Festival on Saturday, December 9 th , is a fun way for the entire family to get in the Christmas spirit.

Bring your camera and capture a picture of your kids with Santa in his Village. Afterward, pick out a spot along the parade route to watch floats, bands, and other entertainment pass by. The route is a mile-long, so you’re sure to find a good spot. Make sure you’re prepared to catch any candy or other goodies the participants might toss your way!

Look no further than the Christmas Marketplace for everyone on your list. You’ll find unique jewelry, art, clothes, toys, and other gifts. Make sure to pick up something for yourself, also!

The festival marks the start of the Trail of Lights, which runs from dusk until dawn from December 9 th through January 5 th . Local businesses and individuals decorate light poles along a .8-mile-long walking trail in the park, and it’s sure to bring delight to all ages. You can see the route here .

The festival takes place at the Lions Foundation Park, beginning at 2:00 p.m. and lasting until 9:00 p.m. The Lighted Christmas Parade kicks off at 6:00 p.m., followed by the Trail of Lights at 7:00 p.m. You’ll find all the information you need on the event at its website .

The third Sunday of every month, Centennial Plaza in downtown Round Rock turns into a car showcase! Bring the whole family out to check out some of the coolest cars in the area at this “show and shine” style event. There’s no fee to attend, and the owners are happy to show off their prized possessions to curious kids and adults alike!

Want to show off your own ride? You don’t need to register, just bring it out to the event! Make sure to arrive no later than 9:50 a.m. to snag a location, as spaces are available on a first come, first served basis, and you’ll want a prime spot to showcase your vehicle.

The event takes place from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at Centennial Plaza, at 301 West Bagdad. The entrance to the show is located off of Bagdad and Brown Street. EXPERIENCE AN OLD-FASHIONED TRAIN RIDE

With all our modern technology, many people forget that transportation was a luxury that most people didn’t have until modern times, and locomotive technology was considered almost magical when it appeared. Manufacturers built their trains in ways that showed off the mechanical power and design, making train travel an experience instead of a way to get from place to place. A little of that grand era of trains can be glimpsed in a few areas of the country that operate old-fashioned trains, and when you stay at Austin RV Park North, you can get a little taste of it just down the road.

Cedar Rock Railroad in Leander is only about thirteen miles from us, and there you can experience for yourself some of the wow factor of old trains. Cedar Rock has a custom-built, quarter-scale train named Sophie that takes passengers through both forests and fields on a 1.4-mile trip around the property. All ages will love their fun and relaxing ride, but there are many more activities to choose from. Young children can play on their own “train”, pretending to ferry passengers around just like Sophie, while kids over three can chase each other in mini locomotives. Old Town Pflooterville is set up like an old west town for kids to chase bad guys and have shootouts in front of the general store.

There’s always something fun to do in Austin, and the weekend of November 4 th and 5 th brings a unique event to the city. The Texas Book Festival is one of the largest and most prestigious literary festivals in the country. Taking place in over twenty venues, including the State Capitol building, the festival’s atmosphere is all about celebrating books and reading. You can attend panels with over 250 nationally and critically recognized authors and get books signed by your favorites. But the fun doesn’t stop there. The festival also features over 80 exhibitors, local food trucks, and an assortment of family activities. And don’t miss the Music Tent!

If you have kids with you, the festival has a special area just for them called Kids on Congress. They can meet their favorite authors or have fun drawing or singing in the activities tent. Both tween and teen readers have special tents just for them, with panels of authors discussing age-appropriate issues and topics. Younger children can participate in story-time in English or in Spanish with beautiful stories read by their award-winning authors. CELEBRATE MEXICAN TRADITION AND CULTURE

While Halloween weekend brings lots of opportunities for entertainment for the whole family, there’s one festival you will not want to miss. The Sixth Annual Dia de los Muertos procession and festival honors Mexican culture and heritage, and on Saturday, October 28 th , you’ll get a chance to participate in this beautiful, colorful festival.

Dia de los Muertos is a traditional Mesoamerican holiday, honoring ancestors and the cycle of life and death. Participants in traditional, brightly colored dress and painted faces dance along the procession route, wowing with their creativity. If you haven’t seen a Dia de los Muertos procession before, you’re definitely missing out!

ARE YOU A BIKING OUTLAW?

Williamson County is gearing up for the 31 st Annual Outlaw Trail Cycling Tour, and Austin RV Park North is close to the action! On Saturday, October 14 th , cyclists of all skill levels will hop on their saddles for a ride through historic, eastern Williamson County. Choose from a 10-mile, 25-mile, 40-mile, 50-mile, or 63-mile loop course, and show your renegade spirit!

This isn’t the Wild West though! Cyclists will have all the help they need along the way, as the courses will feature aid stations, bike repair, and sag wagon support. The start/finish line will be on Harrell Parkway in front of the Old Settlers Tabernacle by the Dell Diamond. That’s also where you’ll pick up your packet or register the morning of the event.

If you’re a registered cyclist, you’ll want to join the Post-Ride Tailgate Party, which will run from 10:00 a.m. until 2:30 p.m. You can enjoy snacks and beverages while watching live football. The party will have several tailgate games to enjoy, and you can cheer on returning riders as they join the fun.

With Texas’ mild winters, it’s not known for winter sports. But indoor ice rinks mean that hockey fans can get a taste of the action, even if the temperature never gets below zero outside. Staying at Austin RV Park North puts you less than 15 miles from H-E-B Center at Cedar Park, the home of the Texas Stars. The Stars play in the American Hockey League and are the primary affiliate of the NHL’s Dallas Stars. While they’re a young team, they’re highly competitive, with six post-season appearances in their eight-year tenure.

With more than 60 sessions and 250 speakers, you’re sure to be blown away by the content and caliber of speakers. The opening keynote will feature Senator Al Franken in conversation about his recent memoir. VIEWING NATURE THROUGH ART

Central Texas and the Hill Country are known for outdoor adventures, but the area is also a haven for art. Right now, there are two exhibits that combine these interests, and they’re both a short drive away from Austin RV Park North.

From now until September 24th, the Georgetown Art Center is hosting an exhibit that gives visitors a view of how different artists interpret one subject. “Wide Open” features expansive, modern landscapes through the eyes of three contemporary painters: Rebecca Bennett, Shawn Camp, and Karen Maness. The Sarofim Fine Arts Gallery on the campus of Southwestern University presents both professional and student work to the public, and right now, it’s main installation features landscapes by a long-time artist, Leonard Lehrer. From now until October 1st, “Leonard Lehrer: A Retrospective” gives visitors a glimpse into the changing vision of a professional artist over the span of his career. You’ll be able to trace thirty-four years of Lehrer’s exploration of botany in his work, from early drawings to later prints of manicured gardens from around the world. One of the best things about the natural attractions around Austin is the ability to get more out of your visit than just cool stories. Kids and adults alike can gain all kinds of knowledge from the exhibits and tour guides at these attractions. A popular one is Inner Space Cavern, which is one of the most well-preserved caves in Texas. Because it was hidden for over 10,000 years, the cave is basically a living laboratory for those interested in geology, but it holds just as much interest for those who don’t want to know how it all came together.

The different tours at Inner Space reflect both interest level and fitness level. For most people, the Adventure Tour will satisfy, guiding you along a well-lit, defined path through the cave while explaining its history. For those who want to dig a little deeper, the Hidden Passages tour lets you get up close and personal on an undeveloped trail. Lastly, only the truly adventurous should select the Wild Cave tour, which tests both stamina and the ability to handle enclosed spaces!

COOL OFF IN A NATURAL LAGOON THIS SUMMER

Austin RV Park North’s location puts you in the middle of all that Austin and the Hill Country have to offer. We’re surrounded by natural beauty, and when the heat gets too much, there’s no better way to cool off than one of the area’s swimming holes.

Blue Hole Park is one of our favorites. Surrounded by limestone bluffs, this lagoon with natural pools is the perfect place to spend an afternoon. Locals and tourists alike bring their families to enjoy the cool water under the big Texas sky.

While jumping from the cliffs is illegal, there’s plenty to do at Blue Hole. Bring a picnic lunch or enjoy the hiking and biking trail. You can even bring a mask and snorkel to check out the bottom of the lagoon.

You can enter the park in Georgetown at W. Second Street and Rock Street. The park is open year-round from dawn to dusk, and when it’s too cold to swim, the water is stocked with trout. CATCH SOLAR ECLIPSE FEVER!

Everyone’s buzzing about the upcoming solar eclipse on August 21st, and we’re no exception! The last total solar eclipse viewable in the United States was back in 1981, and that one wasn’t visible in all parts of the country. So grab some protective glasses and get excited!

If you’re planning a stay with us that weekend, you’ll want to check out the nearby Solar Eclipse Viewing Party sponsored by Round Rock Public Library in partnership with the Space Science Institute. There will be a variety of events going on, but the main attraction will be from noon to two p.m. when the moon’s shadow travels over the area.

The viewing party will happen at Prete Plaza, and a limited number of solar-viewing glasses will be available at the event to protect your eyes. You can get more information here . A FUN EVENT FOR THE WHOLE FAMILY

Every year, Round Rock holds the 5K for Clay event to honor the life of local resident Clay Madsen and benefit the Clay Madsen Recreation Center. The Center is a safe place for both children and adults to learn leadership and sportsmanship skills. This year’s race is on Saturday, August 12 at 7:30 a.m.

Participants can register in the youth class, 17 and under, or adult class, 18 and older for the timed 5K. The looped course will proceed along the Greater Lake Creek Trail, starting and ending at the Center. Aid stations will provide water and sports drinks for participants, and the Center will provide refreshments before and after the race.

For younger kids (10 and under) who aren’t ready for a 5K, you can register for the Kids K for Clay. It will begin after the 5K is complete, around 8:30 a.m. The Kids K is a fun run/walk and will not be timed. You can choose to run or walk alongside your child or let them move along the course on their own, cheered on by volunteers. All participants will receive a prize.

Austin RV Park North prides itself on being a family-friendly destination, so when we see something in the area that families will want to know about, we make sure to highlight it. The Austin area has some great activities and events for the whole family to participate in, but one of the most exciting and unique ones is the Play for All Abilities Park in Round Rock.

The Play for All Abilities Park was created to allow all children, regardless of ability, to participate in play activities that would help them develop skills and feel like a part of the community. Over 51,000 square feet of playground has been adapted to address many of the skills kids need to develop. Different “pods” allow for sensory experiences and retreat time. There is a playscape for all abilities as well as swings for all abilities. There’s even a life skills area. The various areas of the park were designed to stimulate and support important skill sets, including gross and fine motor skills, social interaction, sense of discovery, creativity, and strengthening exercises.

Whether using the park for play, therapy, or learning, children who are autistic or disabled now have a place to experience what they can’t on a traditional playground. This was a true joint effort of the community and the City of Round Rock, and both residents and visitors alike are lucky to have access to this great park. EXPLORE TEXAS HISTORY AT THE CAPITOL

Texas has a rich history, and Austin is at the heart of it. One of the most interesting places to visit is the Texas Capitol, which is just a quick drive when you stay with us at Austin RV Park North.

The Capitol is housed in the oldest state office building in Texas, the restored 1856-57 General Land Office building. The imposing, castle-like building stands three stories and is sure to impress architecture and history buffs alike. A restoration done in the 1990s returned the most significant portions of the building to their 1888-1915 appearance, including original or reproduction furniture. The most impressive part of the building for many is the rotunda, which features the 218-foot-high interior dome and a terrazzo floor highlighting the six seals of the sovereign nations that governed Texas during its history.

A guided tour is a great way to see some of the Capitol’s highlighted. Additionally, multiple exhibits in the Visitors Center take you through the history of the building, its construction, and the state itself. Make sure to stop and view artifacts from the lives of the Texas Revolution soldiers who were paid in land for their service.

When the heat index soars, the water is the only place to be. And when you stay with Austin RV Park, you’re minutes away from one of the best water attractions in the area: Rock’N River Water Park. After a multi-million-dollar renovation, Rock’N River has expanded its offerings to make your visit spectacular.

The “Splashville” area of the park calls to kids and kids at heart who happily spend hours running through sprinklers in the yard. The play area boasts 51 water features, including water slides, tipping buckets and cones, jets, water guns, and obstacles. Older kids can take advantage of “The Quarry,” with its 12-foot Jumping Platform, Rock Climbing Wall, and Drop Slide. A game of water volleyball or basketball is an additional option for the competitors in your family!

Head over to “The Watering Hole” to enjoy food service in a covered, swim-up area or on land. July 17 th , make sure to bring your favorite superhero to the second annual Superhero night. H-E-B Kids Days on July 9 and July 30 let kids experience pre- and post- game fun. And take a trip to Hogwarts to celebrate Harry Potter’s birthday on July 31.

If the kids get restless, let them hang out in The Fun Zone! They can access areas like the playground, moon jump, and sports courts for free, with minimal charges for other activities.

If you’ve never been to the H-E-B Austin Symphony July 4th Concert and Fireworks in downtown Austin, you’re missing out! There’s a reason this event is a tradition for locals and visitors alike, and it’s the biggest celebration of the 4th in the state. Experience a festival atmosphere with a variety of food and drinks and local arts and crafts vendors, or grab a grassy spot and enjoy a picnic with the kids. The fun continues with a free concert and a spectacular fireworks show over Lady Bird Lake.
